Going to the movies is a perfect summer time activity. Movie theatres are a place to cool down, eat some popcorn, drink a soda, and watch the latest box office hit. A trend for movie makers is to recreate comics and make them into movies. Transformers are no exception. The comic books have been made into a movie and the sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is now out for viewing. Transformers are all about action, adventure, and autobots.
The first Transfomers movie was about Sam Witwicky and his autobots saving the world from Decepticons. Autobots are robots and are the good guys in the movie, and Decepticons are the bad guys in the form of military or construction vehicles. In the new release, Sam is continuing his life after saving the world and is preparing to start his life as a college freshman. He is trying to live a normal life and has to leave his autobot, Bumblebee, at home. The autobots continue to defend the world from any decepticons that may not have previously been destroyed, and they understand why Sam has to leave them behind. The autobots continue to adjust to living on Earth with humans and are originally from another planet, Cyberton. While Sam sees how the autobots help save humans, one man thinks that all robots including autobots should be destroyed. He doesn't trust them living on Earth. Theodore Galloway, the National Security Advisor, plans to ban all autobots from earth. Sam helps the autobots who must convince the world they are here for a good reason. You can read more about the plot of the movie in detail at the Transformers Official Movie site (transformermovies.com). The movie stars Shia LeBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Megan Fox, and Michael Bay. Sam Witwicky, the leading character, is played by Shia LeBeouf and the character's girlfriend is played by Megan Fox.
The Transformers comic books have been popular among readers since the 1980s. The popularity of the series has helped the movies become box office hits. The action of the autobots is perfect for an on screen performance. The comic series has been issued by four production companies. Transformers also include popular action character GI Joe. Besides being a popular comic, the Transformers series has also been successful as a toy line, television series, books, video games, theme park rides, and now a movie series. Comics are also the launch and starting point for other successful movies such as Spiderman and Batman.

Transformers - Comic Books to Movies
Buy Movie Posters and Much More Online
By Kristi Ambrose
One of the most popular things to buy online among many other things are movie posters. There are many sites online that offer movie posters among many other different posters such as animal posters, music posters, motivational posters, scenic posters, and much more. I really enjoy buying posters online because they are cheaper than regular photographs or paintings and there's a large variety to choose from. These posters also come in black and white, color, and many other effects. They also come in many different shapes and sizes as well as varying prices. Prices can start from a few dollars on up to a few hundred dollars depending on what you choose. Another interesting a thing about these posters is that you can also have them framed to have them look more professional. These frames also come in varying sizes and colors.
There are tons of choices to choose from. As said above it doesn't matter if you're looking for something in black and white. photographs, posters, movies, etc. You can get find artist, any work he or she has ever done and pretty much any size you want. A few months ago I bought about 15 posters on one site because they were having a sale (which is also really nice to look out for!) and I got a few really cool ones from my favorite artists like Van Gogh, Michael Kahn, Picasso, Georgia O'Keeffe, etc.
There are many places you can search online but, I suggest looking for keywords such as buy posters online, find posters online, or be more specific and search for things like beach themed posters, or black-and-white movie posters. If you're looking for a few sites to try:
Art - This site has styles such as fine art, decorative art, vintage art, and photography.
All Posters - This is a sister site of the site listed above so they have a lot of the same products and styles.
123posters - If you're looking for low price posters this is a great place to try.
Bare Walls - In my opinion this site has a lot of nice mid to high end posters which would look good on anyone's bare walls!
All Posters Cheap - Another good site if you're looking for cheap posters to buy
These few sites are some of my top ones that I go to when I'm searching for a poster online. Of course as many more sites you can go to depending on your personal preference. Oh by the way before forget you can also search for different materials within the posters such as glossy prints and matte prints. And, if you don't want to pay extra for a frame there are some posters that come with a premade frame.

4 Steps to Buying Modern Art
By Mark Zyler
Step1 First you have to familiarize yourself with the major modern art movements. The major art moments are Art Deco, Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Art Deco , Art Nouveau, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art and Op Art. Knowing these movements will help you decide what you're looking for and will direct you towards which artwork to purchase. A simple internet search will give you a vast amount of information for each of the movements and photo examples.
Step2 The second step it to identify which art movements you like best. Each modern art movement has its famous or brand artists. For example, some of the big names and their movements are Dali in Surrealism, Fauvism includes Matisse, Art Nouveau has Picasso and Impressionism has Monet. Knowing which art movement most interest you will help you narrow your art buying selection.
Step3 If you're looking for art that will have a return on investment its best to stick with a well known modern artist. Many of these artists have pieces that will come up for sale at auction. An internet search will give you a good baseline of how much the works of your favorite artists are currently going for.
Step4 If you're on a limited budget its best to purchase original modern paintings from talented emerging artists. The selection is readily available and he price difference is enormous. A good source of original modern artwork is contempogallery.com.
In conclusion, do your homework. A little legwork now will pay off big in the future. When it comes to researching your potential artists, the internet is your friend. Know what you like and know your artists.

Christmas - Decorate Your House And Rooms - Ideas And Tips
By Francisco Monaco
Do you want a beautiful decoration this Christmas? Well, I'll show you how. A very common mistake I see in most of the houses I have visited on Christmas, is that only the "important" parts of the house, such as the living room or the dining room are decorated. The most important parts, or at least those where the people spend more time, such as the bathrooms and kitchen, are not. So, here are some tips.
There's nothing better than having full-of-Christmas rooms, especially for your kids, and there are many things you can do, such as putting a small Christmas tree in one of the corners, and those classical lights in the window. Another very fun thing to do is pouring fake snow all over the furniture and other objects in the room, it gives a beautiful Christmas sensation, plus, as I said before, is a VERY fun thing to do. You can also decorate your home rooms with posters, which are easy to get and place.
What about bathrooms? You can always place those classical Christmas covers for your toilet, and all that similar stuff like the bathtub curtains, and the carpet. Also, you always have the alternative of the fake snow, and in the bathroom, looks just as fine as in the rooms. And you can put a Christmas door wreath, it always looks fine.
And finally, the kitchen. For me, the kitchen is a very important part of the house, and your hardly ever find a decorated one. So, leave that behind and change it. You definitively have to get some Christmas flowers, at least one, and put it in a corner. You also should place wreaths on the doors, they give a very cozy and elegant look. You can always get posters. Imagine your kitchen with a beautiful cook-Santa framed poster, or a funny snow man made of cream and fruits - they look terrific, here you can look for some samples.
The most important thing about decorating your house on Christmas is to share it with the people you care for. So remember, keep it simple, keep it fun.

A Unique Way to Decorate With Posters
By Kathy Burns-Millyard
Here's an interesting decorating idea for anyone who loves doing things themselves. This will be especially fun if you like crafts too: Make a poster collage.
Now the first step in this project would be to pick out a wall for the collage display. This will work beautifully on larger walls, but smaller arrangements can be made too.
Step two is to buy a large, mural or wall sized poster. How large of a poster you buy will depend on the size of the wall you plan to work with. I think the biggest impact will be made with at least a three foot by four foot poster or wall space.
The type of poster you choose is up to you. It can be a generic nature scene with trees, a mountain and lake. Or try a pretty garden scene with a bench and arbor. If your room is done is a more modern style, trying getting an abstract poster with bright, vibrant colors instead.
Step three is to buy nine to twelve picture frames. You can buy the clear acrylic kind without actual frames around them, or go with matching standard frames in any style you'd like. You'll end up with entirely different looks just by the type of frames you choose too, so you might consider buying more than one set, so they can be changed at various times of the year.
Step four is to cut up the poster. Yes that new poster you just bought. Cut it into equal pieces: Three across and four down, four across and five down, or whatever combination fits with the number of picture frames you've purchased, as well as what size those frames are.
An 8x10 frame for instance, would require each piece of your poster to be 8 inches wide by 10 inches high. So if your poster is 24 inches wide, you'd cut it into three equal pieces. If you've purchased a larger poster though, say 40 inches wide, and you're using the 8x10 picture frames, then you'll cut the width of the poster into 5 equal pieces.
If the poster you chose does not break down into pieces evenly with the picture frame sizes you bought, there are two things you can do: Cut them to be displayed sideways, or cut off the extra from the outside of the poster before beginning.
What I mean by cutting sideways, is to cut the poster into pieces that will fit into the frames in horizontal format. Instead of 8 inches wide, you'd make the poster pieces 10 inches wide, and 8 inches high. Then when you hang your frames, you'll hang them in horizontal format instead of standard portrait style.
If you're still not able to fit the pieces into the frames this way, then trim off the extra from one or both sides of the poster before cutting it into pieces. If you plan to cut the poster three pieces wide at 10 inches each, then you only have room for 30 inches total. If the poster is 32 inches wide, you'll simply cut off two inches from one side, or one inch from each.
Once you've cut the poster into the various pieces, then you simply put each peice into a picture frame. Arrange the frames back into the full sized picture, then hang them on the wall in order. The end result will be a much more elegant, sophisticated and artistic wall decoration than hanging a regular poster on the wall in full.

Posters as a Decorating Style
By Richard Amburn
When I think of decorating a room with posters, I think of the 70’s with black light, velvet and the famous Farrah Fawcett poster.
Times have changed and decorating with posters have also changed. Poster has now become a theme based decorating style. Not just poster of the latest hottie from a magazine. Here are some poster theme ideas.
Movie theme.
Movie posters have been around for forever. For the movie buff, movie poster can be based on era, director, actors, or even genre. An example would be Steven Spielberg. You could start out with ET and finish up with War of the worlds.
Sports
Mohamed Ali tribute of poster is a great example. There are so many sport posters to pick from. Poster themes could include boxing greats, baseball or even chronicle the life of Lance Armstrong.
Americana
There are some fabulous Americana posters available for a patriotic look. There are poster of the Declaration of Independence, George Washington crossing the Delaware and the Flag.
Cars
Car posters have been around as long as cars. You could have the history of the Corvette in a very decorative manner with the entire posters available now. You don’t have to have the large looking posters and turn your room into a garage.
Vintage Advertisements
These have probably have came the farthest regarding decorative posters. You can find some of the best vintage advertisement art in posters. Some examples are the Martini & Rossi Art Print, Sourse Brault and the Café Martin. These are some of the classics that can make a room look classic with being gaudy.
Remember, there are some great examples of what you can do with posters that can turn a dull room into a spectacular vision without spending wads of cash.

Collecting Antique Postcards
By Tracy Crowe
Antique postcards are a wonderful way to learn about the past. Often the only way to see pictures of old buildings, street cars, expositions, or sports and other pastimes, is on a postcard. A collector of postcards usually specializes in a theme: perhaps a particular location or mode of transportation, or a sport or pastime, or in advertising cards. Trains and old sports stadiums are very popular, and fetch high prices. Postcard collectors are often referred to as deltiologists (from the Greek meaning a collector of small pictures or writings).
At the turn of the 20th century, postcards were extremely popular. It is said that visitors to New York's Coney Island mailed 200,000 postcards in a single day in 1906. At the height of their popularity, over a billion cards were sold every year.
Vintage postcards can be found in several places. Flea markets, antique shows, or ephemera (paper) shows often have tables. Auctions are a good place to look for postcards. In the United States there are many postcard clubs which often have public shows.
The same dealers often move from show to show. Some dealers will bargain with you, and others won't. Most dealers give a discount for large purchases. You might want to shop around when you are at a show, because prices of the same postcard might vary with different dealers. There is a wide range of prices of postcards, from as low as a few dollars to more than 50 dollars; the price of the postcard depends on the subject, condition, and scarcity of the postcard.
You may choose to overlook the condition of a card if it is scarce or you need it to add to a collection. You may or may not be interested in the stamp on the postcard. Most postcards are printed on cardboard, but materials such as leather, wood, and even metal have also been used. There is a incredible variety of topics depicted on postcards. There is everything from disasters to greetings (not just holiday greetings but also greetings from a particular place). German "Gruss Aus" cards are very popular.
There have been several artists that have made their living creating pictures specifically produced for postcards. Popular "signed" artists include Ellen Clapsaddle (1865-1934) whose cards show delightful children, and Frances Brundage (1854-1937) among others.
The idea of sending postcards became popular in 1861 when H.L. Lipman from Philadelphia began to privately print cards with the front left blank for a message, and the back left for the address. These cards could be mailed once they had a stamp. Companies quickly realized that printing messages or pictures on the backs of "advertising cards" was an inexpensive way to advertise their products. The US government issued its first postal card in 1873. These were mostly used for advertising. It was the Chicago World's Fair that started a frenzy of sending picture postcards.
The pioneer era of picture postcards was from the 1893 Columbian Exposition to 1898. At that time US Post Office cards could be mailed for one cent, but privately printed cards cost 2 cents to mail. Postal cards were government issued and had pre-printed postage, but postcards were privately printed and required stamps. The backs of cards were "undivided backs" and intended only for writing the name and address. Many of these cards have writing on the front below or along with the picture. These cards are often called souvenir cards or mail cards. Charles Goldsmith, using government postal stock printed several sets of official souvenir postcards for the Columbian Expositions and these were extremely popular. Pre-1900 postcards are rare though.
The Golden Age of Postcards was from 1898-1915. The printing and coloring on these cards were high quality. The passage of the Private Mailing Card Act of 1989 allowed private postcards to be mailed for one cent. The back was still undivided, until 1907 when the requirement for undivided backs was dropped, and the left side could be used for a message. In 1915 World War 1 brought an end to the golden age of postcards.
Many postcards from this era were printed in Europe, especially Germany, which allowed good printing quality. The cards were hand colored, and sometimes the colorer used his imagination. Sometimes a printer would add or subtract an object to make the picture look better. It is not uncommon to find two cards with the same scene except for some object is missing in one of them. For this reason collectors must not assume that old postcards show historically correct images.
Antique postcards are a wonderful peek into the past. Although images are often not historically correct, they give us a picture of what has been (of what people wore, and what they did, and where they did it, and what was important to them) that we often can't get anywhere else.
