Color Creation For Posters

By Janice Jenkins

There are two traditional ways of creating your color poster printing project. First, have someone else do it for you; and second, do it on your own.

Most of the time, business owners had theirs done by professional designers. They hire graphic designers and illustrators to relay onto the paper what they have in mind regarding their custom posters. And although these skilled designers create your poster design and layout, it's still you as the business owner who has the final say on what should be put to press or not.
On the other hand, if you decide to do it on your own, you can always rely on computer software to help you design your custom posters. What you'll definitely need is a word processing program plus graphic programs that can give you the illustrations you'll need in your printing project.

Still, you can go the easier route (and the most popular nowadays). There's a wide range of sources in the Internet that lets you download poster templates for a minimal fee or sometimes for free. All you have to do is to choose the design template that's right for your needs, fill up all the necessary information, and then customize according to the business you have. And voila! You can now send your poster project to the printers or your can again, do the printing yourself.
So if you're going to make a go of your printing project, here's how you may begin:

Step 1: What's the main message?

The first thing you have to do is to decide on your main message. Whatever it is, just remember to follow the KISS principle - Keep It Short and Simple. Your headline especially, should say it all. And use as much as possible the active voice. On the other hand, avoid the verb 'to be' when you can.

Step 2: Lay out your space.

Whatever your poster format, lay out the space you'll be working on physically and on paper. This is to avoid making as many mistakes while you're already working on your color poster project. This would also help you create a more flexible poster that can easily be changed in size and format.

Step 3: Provide crude panels as your draft posters.

Before actually creating your final panels in your color poster, I would advise that you also lay out crude panels for you to work on. They can be of the same size as your actual panels and see if you can mix and match all the elements you need to create your final poster design. I assure you, these crude panels will save you much time later on.

Step 4: Remove all unnecessary elements.

You don't need so many elements to convey your color poster printing message. A few would suffice. In fact, it'll take your target readers less than 10 minutes to actually gaze and absorb your work. And it takes about 11 seconds for you to grab their attention.

So make use of your time wisely. Use only the elements that could better emphasize and make your message clear to your audience.

Finally, start creating your elements and combine them all to develop one heck of a poster design for your business.

Christmas - Decorate Your House And Rooms - Ideas And Tips

By Francisco Monaco

Do you want a beautiful decoration this Christmas? Well, I'll show you how. A very common mistake I see in most of the houses I have visited on Christmas, is that only the "important" parts of the house, such as the living room or the dining room are decorated. The most important parts, or at least those where the people spend more time, such as the bathrooms and kitchen, are not. So, here are some tips.

There's nothing better than having full-of-Christmas rooms, especially for your kids, and there are many things you can do, such as putting a small Christmas tree in one of the corners, and those classical lights in the window. Another very fun thing to do is pouring fake snow all over the furniture and other objects in the room, it gives a beautiful Christmas sensation, plus, as I said before, is a VERY fun thing to do. You can also decorate your home rooms with posters, which are easy to get and place.

What about bathrooms? You can always place those classical Christmas covers for your toilet, and all that similar stuff like the bathtub curtains, and the carpet. Also, you always have the alternative of the fake snow, and in the bathroom, looks just as fine as in the rooms. And you can put a Christmas door wreath, it always looks fine.

And finally, the kitchen. For me, the kitchen is a very important part of the house, and your hardly ever find a decorated one. So, leave that behind and change it. You definitively have to get some Christmas flowers, at least one, and put it in a corner. You also should place wreaths on the doors, they give a very cozy and elegant look. You can always get posters. Imagine your kitchen with a beautiful cook-Santa framed poster, or a funny snow man made of cream and fruits - they look terrific, here you can look for some samples.

The most important thing about decorating your house on Christmas is to share it with the people you care for. So remember, keep it simple, keep it fun.

Getting Your Money's Worth With Wholesale Poster Printing

By Janice Jenkins

In order for your marketing campaign to work, you need to promote to a vast area or target place, among a great number of people, and in a longer period of time. In short, you need to really put your heart and money into your marketing strategy to come up with an effective one.
However, not all marketing campaigns can be cost effective. In fact, most often than not, many printing projects cost a lot of money. So it is best to choose wisely where you invest your hard earned money.

One of the most overlooked techniques in the printing industry is wholesale poster printing. Contrary to many beliefs, wholesale poster printing not only serves its purpose of providing an effective marketing medium, but most importantly, it is considered as a cheaper option for business owners who are on a limited budget.

It may seem like an expensive choice at first glance, but in the long run, you will notice that wholesale poster printing can be a much wiser option, especially when your company is in need of poster printing materials in large orders. Believe it or not, it is the best choice among the different poster printing selections.

First off, when you decide on wholesale poster printing for your project, your poster printer would most likely use offset printing equipment. Offset printers produce volumes of quality full color posters fast and efficiently, thereby limiting the time needed to produce all your required number of pieces. This means less expense in terms of time consumed by the staff and people to produce your poster printing materials.

And since your poster printing materials are run through the offset printer, the process allows for the application of four color poster printing process. Your posters will come out with more vivid and vibrant colors than any ordinary posters printed from other equipment.

Third, despite your fears of paying more when you order wholesale, wholesale poster printing allows you to order more pieces without you having to pay the equivalent price. The more number of poster printing pieces you order, the more discounts you get from poster printing quotes provided by printing shops.

Fourth, quality is not sacrificed when you order wholesale poster printing. With the use of state-of-the-art offset printers, combined with skilled and expert people, you get to have quality results for your poster printing quotes. Even the paper stock used will also be made of quality materials.

And you don’t even have to wait that long to get your poster printing materials. Offset printing usually takes 2 to 5 working days for turnaround time.

At first, wholesale poster printing may seem overwhelming and expensive especially for a business owner that works on a limited budget. However, choosing to go wholesale and order your poster printing requirements by bulk would save you not only your money, but also your time and effort which can be allocated to the other parts of your business. And with wholesale poster printing, savings do get noticed.

A Unique Way to Decorate With Posters

By Kathy Burns-Millyard

Here's an interesting decorating idea for anyone who loves doing things themselves. This will be especially fun if you like crafts too: Make a poster collage.

Now the first step in this project would be to pick out a wall for the collage display. This will work beautifully on larger walls, but smaller arrangements can be made too.

Step two is to buy a large, mural or wall sized poster. How large of a poster you buy will depend on the size of the wall you plan to work with. I think the biggest impact will be made with at least a three foot by four foot poster or wall space.

The type of poster you choose is up to you. It can be a generic nature scene with trees, a mountain and lake. Or try a pretty garden scene with a bench and arbor. If your room is done is a more modern style, trying getting an abstract poster with bright, vibrant colors instead.

Step three is to buy nine to twelve picture frames. You can buy the clear acrylic kind without actual frames around them, or go with matching standard frames in any style you'd like. You'll end up with entirely different looks just by the type of frames you choose too, so you might consider buying more than one set, so they can be changed at various times of the year.

Step four is to cut up the poster. Yes that new poster you just bought. Cut it into equal pieces: Three across and four down, four across and five down, or whatever combination fits with the number of picture frames you've purchased, as well as what size those frames are.

An 8x10 frame for instance, would require each piece of your poster to be 8 inches wide by 10 inches high. So if your poster is 24 inches wide, you'd cut it into three equal pieces. If you've purchased a larger poster though, say 40 inches wide, and you're using the 8x10 picture frames, then you'll cut the width of the poster into 5 equal pieces.

If the poster you chose does not break down into pieces evenly with the picture frame sizes you bought, there are two things you can do: Cut them to be displayed sideways, or cut off the extra from the outside of the poster before beginning.

What I mean by cutting sideways, is to cut the poster into pieces that will fit into the frames in horizontal format. Instead of 8 inches wide, you'd make the poster pieces 10 inches wide, and 8 inches high. Then when you hang your frames, you'll hang them in horizontal format instead of standard portrait style.

If you're still not able to fit the pieces into the frames this way, then trim off the extra from one or both sides of the poster before cutting it into pieces. If you plan to cut the poster three pieces wide at 10 inches each, then you only have room for 30 inches total. If the poster is 32 inches wide, you'll simply cut off two inches from one side, or one inch from each.

Once you've cut the poster into the various pieces, then you simply put each peice into a picture frame. Arrange the frames back into the full sized picture, then hang them on the wall in order. The end result will be a much more elegant, sophisticated and artistic wall decoration than hanging a regular poster on the wall in full.

The Art of Movie Posters Collecting

By William Cole Doggett

Movie posters collecting may not be as popular as stamp collecting but they also can be fun and exciting. It can also be taken seriously to make it profitable. They can either be hanged on walls with tape or preserved in glass frames for posterity.

In the beginning movie posters were meant to be thrown away after theaters have stopped showing a movie. Thrown away movie posters thus become very rare and valuable. Movie posters have their early beginnings in the late 1890s as film was just invented. Since then movie posters have evolved. It has remained with us and has been sustained through out the years.

To hang on to the whole collectible value of a movie poster would mean never changing the appearance of a poster. When hanging, try to avoid tearing or folding or bending and punching holes on the poster. Do not in all circumstances expose the poster to direct light, sun or otherwise. UV lights can also harm the poster just as over exposure will harm the human skin. Don't literally fill the poster with graffiti even at the back. Because marks even at the back can be see in front of the poster and this loses its value.

Care of movie posters can also include on how to rape posters properly to avoid tearing. Do not as much as possible to put tape on the front of a movie poster. If tape you must, use acid free tape and place the tape on the back of the poster. You could also employ the help of professionals for restoration of originals.

If you poster have to be shipped handling it of utmost importance. You have to use poster tubes or bubble envelopes to put in your movie posters. If you have to store your collection of movie posters, store them in a cool dry climate still in plastic bags or tubes or bubble envelopes.

For framing movie posters avoid dry mounting the posters. Using an acid free backing board is recommended. This in a way prevents aging of the posters. Just like in any collection like stamps, comic books, baseball cards and others, care and protection of the collection should be taken seriously. The collection in time would become a source of revenue for some and a source of delight for others.

Art Prints For Fine Art Collecting

By Gray Hamilton

Potential art collectors with limited financial resources might do well to initially invest in art prints. Original fine art works may be too expensive but high quality art prints are more reasonably priced. Low quality prints like those found in magazines have minimal value but quality art prints are a different story. They are collectables in their own right and are treasured by knowledgeable art collectors.

Fine art prints are less expensive then purchasing original art work and are created using traditional media. They are easy to care for and clean, and made using high-quality non-degrading inks on paper or cloth. They are beautiful and simple to put into frames and you can have them on display anywhere in your home or office.

Fine art prints appreciate in value over time, just as traditional original art works do. In fact, in the last few decades, the market for prints has been booming. Fine quality prints are an excellent investment, since they can be used to beautify your home and also to manage wealth. Some fine art prints appreciate as much as 10 - 20 percent per year, making them excellent investments.

The popular notion is that fine art prints are not "original" art works. But, in reality, they are. Not only does the artist oversee their printing, which is done in limited batches, but this printing process is also selected such that each print is different from the other in some way, while retaining all the visual effects. Though these are minor differences with regard to individual numbering, color, line and ink saturation, each print is unique in its own way.

Giclee prints are produced using a patented, high-quality ink-jet printing technique. In this printing process, the surface of the print is treated akin to the canvas used by an artist using paint. Tiny spurts of high-quality ink are combined and mixed on the surface of the print, simultaneously controlling the ink pattern to ensure perfection in details. Unlimited combinations of paint make available all imaginable shades.

You can decorate a room with your house with fine prints and they are also reasonably priced investments. You can hang a landscape painting on the living room wall. The hallway looks better with a flower painting and kid's room will become more colorful with a reproduction from a children's book.

Art prints collecting is a good investment as well as an excellent way to decorate your home. These fine prints are inexpensive, increase in value, and are very easy to take care of. These prints are produced in small amounts and use a high quality printing technique such as Giclee. Fine art giclee prints are sprayed with a high quality ink to produce perfect details in the picture. Your next flower painting may actually be a fine print that you can enjoy for years. It may also become very valuable and a treasured heirloom.

10 Ideas For Cheap Romantic Gifts

By Rebecca Osborn

Sometimes getting a gift for your partner can feel overwhelming. How do you pick the perfect token that will reflect how you feel especially if you are on a tight budget.
Hopefully you can use some of these creative, cheap ideas to show your partner just how much you care.

1. Flowers delivered to her work with a personally written love poem rolled up and tied with a ribbon.

2. Tell your partner that you have a surprise for them when they get home from work. Do not let them upstairs when they get home. Have a steaming bubble bath ready and fill the room with candles. Have fresh towels and leave a single rose on the top of them. Tell them to take their time, and when they are finished you will give them a massage.

3. Buy the biggest sheet of poster board you can find, and fold it in half like a gigantic card. Write "101 reasons why I Love..." on the front and on the inside write “YOU” right in the middle, then write the reasons all over the card. These things can be qualities the person has, or it can even be memories. Come up with a list and check them off as you write them on the poster so you don't have to keep going back and actually counting them on the poster. (This gets confusing)

4. Go to a dollar store and buy 14 little gifts. You can give them one day at a time from February 1st to the 14th. Or for the 14 days before their birthday.

5. Do something that brings back memories of your first date together. It may be the movie you saw on your first date or book the exact table you had your first meal at.

6. Create a hand-written card. Write, "I love you" in as many different languages as you can find and write inside, "No matter how many different ways there are to say it, there aren't enough ways for me to truly express how much I love you."

7. Make a calendar that is similar to the day by day tear off calendars. Write on each day something that you love about your partner. It takes time to create it, as you have 365 days to do, but is well worth it. If you do not have the time, you can just create it for 30 days.

8. Make a coloring and activity book. Make up a story and draw all the pictures (plain computer paper is fine) and outlined them with pen. Bind it all together with a cover and gave some crayons to go with it. It could be the story of how you met, or how life would be so sad if you had not met!

9. Paint two coffee mugs so the next time you sit down to enjoy a latte, you can drink out of your own personalised coffee mugs!

10. Bake a cake and write in icing on the top a little love note.
